Ahem...

Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Or so they tell me. As you've probably noticed, I haven't been doing a lot online lately. Too many things to do. Who knew that shifting from the night shift to going back to school would crimp my blogging style? Well, the good news is that I'm back, and I fully intend to make this a daily blog from here on out. Unfortunately for you, that means that some days (okay, most days) are going to be pretty light on content.

Luckily for you, this is not one of those days. Although here the content is a long-overdue piece of praise for The Wife. You see, a couple of weeks ago, an unidentified blogger may have accidentally driven off to a Midwestern University for the day without uploading an important piece of writing into his or her flash drive. This blogger, who wishes to remain nameless out of shame, realized his/her error upon reaching said University 50 minutes later, and reached out for the only solution that came to his/her cold-medicine altered brain: call The Wife. In many situations, dear reader, calling The Wife is sure to bring results, and if you're lucky, she won't even charge you for the service, although if you talk to her for 6 minutes, you just might receive a bill for 1/10 of an hour of her services if there is any way your conversation can be construed as legal advice. At any rate, calling The Wife at this particular point was a poor idea since it was the middle of the workday (workday here being defined as dawn to that point in the pre-dawn hours where vampires return to their caskets (okay, so it's not that bad, but it's still a long day)), but The Wife, rising to the occasion as she always does, kindly offered to go to this anonymous blogger's apartment (don't ask how she got in, just go with it) and e-mail to him/her the missing paper. Once again, like all lawyers, The Wife put the needs of someone else before her own and saved the day. The anonymous blogger would like me to pass along, to the world, his/her heartfelt appreciation for The Wife. In honor of her selfless act, The Mister is hereby changing The Wife's official title from "The Wife" to "The Saver Wife," which is sort of like that USA Network miniseries "The Starter Wife," except there is no divorce involved, and this blog is not presented with limited commercial interruption by Ponds. So, actually, now that I think about it, it's really nothing like "The Starter Wife."

Finally, before I go, I'd like to introduce two new features that will be making a daily appearance on this site. First, the "Random article/book that The Mister has used in his most recent paper," in which the fascinating world of British History (and related fields) will be brought home to YOU, the reader! Trust me, you'll want to check in daily to see this. Second, I present the "Completely Random Aspect of Preoccupation," my name for the segment in which I will introduce the topic for tomorrow's blog post. Of course, since it is completely random, I wouldn't actually count on seeing that topic the next day. Alright, I think that's enough for today.

Random article/book that The Mister has used in his most recent paper:

Graeme S. Mount, "Friendly Liberator or Predatory Aggressor? Some Canadian Impressions of the United States during the Spanish-American War," in Canadian Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, 11.22 (1986): 59-70.

Completely Random Aspect of Preoccupation:

Check back tomorrow for "A Completely Rational Discourse on the Social Morality of Tofurkey Consumption."

Lar and I just had a tasty Tofurkey for our Easter dinner. We did not consider the morality of it all, just the delicious taste.
Good to see you back!

I was browsing your site and I thought you may be interested in Hulu. Hulu is an online video service that offers hit TV shows, movies and clips for free to anyone, anytime in the US. The quality of the video is amazing and has been praised by The Washington Post, TIME, Business Week, the Chicago Tribune, Fortune, and the AP! Hulu also is hosting the Starter Wife!

The best part is that you can embed a video on your site but the clip can be any length and of any part of a show that you want to clip and embed. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.
